Our commitment
We want everyone to be able to use Secret Santa. Our goal is to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA.
Accessibility features
- Full keyboard navigation, a clearly visible focus indicator and a “Skip to content” link.
- Semantic structure with landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) and a heading hierarchy.
- Form fields with associated labels, error messages announced to screen readers and copy confirmations in a live region.
- Colour contrast of at least 4.5:1 for text, and system high-contrast settings respected.
- Text that can be enlarged up to 200% without loss of content, and a responsive layout.
- Reduced animation when the system asks for less motion.
- Page language declared (Portuguese and English) and decorative images hidden from assistive technology.
Known limitations
Emojis are read differently by each screen reader. The share buttons open WhatsApp, whose accessibility we do not control.
Reference standards
WCAG 2.2 AA, EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882), transposed in Portugal by Decree-Law No. 82/2022. The service is free and non-commercial; we follow these standards voluntarily.
Assessment
Self-assessment carried out on 18 October 2026 with Lighthouse and axe-core, plus manual keyboard testing.
